1,922 arrested for violating gun ban

POLICE have arrested at least 1,922 people across the country for violating the gun ban implemented due to the 2023 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE), the Philippine National Police (PNP) said Sunday.

The PNP added it also confiscated 1,454 guns, while 1,683 were surrendered and 2,325 were deposited for safekeeping.

The figures were as of Oct. 27, said the CNN News

The gun ban implementation began on Aug. 28 and will run until Nov. 29.

The PNP also said 30 out of 151 reported incidents are election-related.

A total of 317,596 checkpoints for the BSKE have been installed nationwide as of Oct. 27, the PNP added.

The BSKE is set to be held on Monday, Oct. 30.
