AT least 15 health facilities in areas affected by ‘Paeng’ incurred only minor damages, said the Department of Health (DOH) on Friday.
The damaged health facilities include seven hospitals, six barangay health stations, and two rural health units, said DOH Officer-in-Charge Maria Rosario Vergeire.
These facilities were located in Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Western Visayas, Soccsksargen, and Cordillera Administrative Region, she added.
“Wala namang tumigil ang operasyon sa kahit anong facilities na naapektuhan nito (None of the affected facilities have stopped operations),” said Vergeire in a press briefing.
“All of these facilities are functional, nire-repair lang natin yung minor damages sa kanila (the minor damages are being repaired),” she added.
Vergeire said that they have yet to determine the total cost of damage.
“We do not have the numbers right now [as to the worth of damage] but let me tell you that our costing ay dun lang talaga sa exact facilities na meron tayo,” she said.
A total of 154 people died and 128 individuals were injured during the onslaught of Paeng, based on the latest report of National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC).
Meanwhile, there were 4,124,267 people or 1,176,074 families were affected by Paeng, the NDRRMC added.
