QCPD files complaints vs VP Sara, aide over VMMC standoff

admin November 27, 2024

THE Quezon City Police District (QCPD) on Wednesday, November 27, filed multiple complaints against Vice President Sara Duterte and PCol. Raymund Dante Lachica of the Vice President’s Security and Protection Group (VPSPG) at the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office.

The complaints stem from a recent incident involving a standoff between Duterte’s security personnel and law enforcers at the Veterans Memorial Medical Center (VMMC).

The Philippine National Police (PNP) had previously announced an investigation into the potential criminal liability of Duterte and her security staff for their alleged role in the incident.

The issue arose last weekend when Duterte and her security personnel allegedly orchestrated a “forced transfer” of her chief-of-staff, Zuleika Lopez, from VMMC to St. Luke’s Medical Center.

Reports indicate that the transfer was conducted using a private ambulance hired by the VP’s security detail.

The QCPD’s action follows the PNP’s investigation, which is expected to shed light on the circumstances surrounding the incident and determine whether any laws were violated.

The filing of complaints against the Vice President and her security personnel signifies the seriousness of the allegations and the potential for legal consequences.

The incident has sparked public debate regarding the conduct of the Vice President’s security detail and the appropriate protocols for handling such situations.

The outcome of the investigation and any subsequent legal proceedings will be closely watched by the public.
