THE Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) is providing free transportation services to commuters in Metro Manila on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, as heavy rains continue to affect the region.
This initiative, led by the Department of Transportation (DOTr), is in direct response to an order from President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. PCG buses are operating routes from Quiapo to Fairview and Angono, Rizal, with additional services running to Alabang and Sucat in Parañaque.
The free rides aim to assist commuters facing difficulties due to the ongoing inclement weather and resulting traffic disruptions.
The deployment of PCG buses offers a tangible example of government support to residents facing transportation challenges caused by the heavy rains.
The routes selected target areas significantly impacted by the flooding and traffic congestion, demonstrating a practical approach to addressing the immediate needs of the population.
Beyond the logistical aspect, the initiative provides a much-needed sense of reassurance and support to those struggling to navigate the difficult conditions.
