P392k worth of marijuana from Spain intercepted

admin May 3, 2022

THE Bureau of Customs–Port of Clark seized two shipments containing 231 grams of kush. The said cargoes originating from Spain were estimated to have a value of P392,700.00.

The successful operation was conducted by the BOC Port personnel, in coordination with the Customs Anti-Illegal Drugs Task Force (CAIDTF), Enforcement Security Service (ESS), Customs Intelligence and Investigation Service (CIIS), X-ray Inspection Project (XIP), and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA).

The cargoes were declared to contain “city comfort bufanda mujer invierno” and arrived on different dates.

The first shipment from Madrid, Spain arrived on March 27, while the second shipment from Barcelona, Spain arrived on April 03.

The consignees of the said cargoes are addressed in Quezon City and Marikina City, respectively.

The shipments were subjected to x-ray scanning upon their arrival which revealed images of organic substances that prompted the conduct of a 100% physical examination. This led to the discovery of two  plastic pouches containing dried leaves, buds, and stems in the shipment from Madrid. Meanwhile, three vacuum-sealed packs were found in the shipment from Barcelona which were suspected to be Marijuana. The PDEA K9 units also indicated the possible presence of illegal drugs.

Samples were then taken and turned over to PDEA for the conduct of a chemical laboratory analysis which verified the presence of Marijuana, a dangerous drug under R.A. No. 9165.

A Warrant of Seizure and Detention was issued by District Collector Alexandra Lumontad against the subject shipments for violation of Sections 118 (g), 119 (d), and 1113 (f) of Republic Act (R.A.) No. 10863 in relation to Section 4 of R.A. No. 9165 otherwise known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

The subject illegal drugs were turned over to PDEA for proper disposition.

The BOC-Port of Clark will continue to strictly implement Commissioner Rey Leonardo Guerrero and President Rodrigo Duterte’s mandate to secure the Philippine borders against the importation of illegal drugs.
