THE NCRPO apprehended the man behind the several fake accounts on various social media platforms of the Regional Director, PBGen. Joe Melencio Nartatez Jr.and other significant personnel and civilians. Investigation also disclosed that the suspect is also responsible for several fraudulent activities and online-scamming.
The suspect, Darell John Green, 36, Nigerian national, was arrested at Brgy. Barreto, Olongapo City at around 9:00 AM on November 11, 2023.
Green was finally cornered during a dragnet operation conducted by the Regional Special Operations Group-Regional Intelligence Division (RSOG- RID NCRPO), Anti-Terrorism Squad-Regional Intelligence Division (ATS-RID NCRPO) and Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) and Olongapo City Forensic Unit. The operatives served the Warrant of Arrest against the suspect for the crime of Robbery under Criminal Case No. 03- 0264-2010 issued by Hon. Ambrosio De Luna, Presiding Judge of Regional Trial Court, Branch 12, Lipa City, Batangas with P60,000 bail recommended.
Through the relentless efforts of intelligence and research team, the suspect behind these fraud accounts who tried to solicit monetary amounts from several personalities through social media was successfully identified, tracked and located at Brgy. Barreto, Olongapo City which led to his eventual arrest.
Authorities also found out that Green is not only using the identity of Nartatez, Regional Director NCRPO but also other personalities such as PBGen. Redrico Maranan, District Director Quezon City Police District; PCol. Froilan Uy, former Chief of Police, Pasay City and others for fraudulent activities.
The suspect will face charges regarding Violation of Section 4, para 3 (b) Computer-related Identity Theft of RA 10175 and Estafa in relation to Section 6, R.A. 10175 otherwise known as the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012.
Moreover, based on records Green has a standing warrant of arrest for robbery; three warrants for qualified theft; and another warrant for theft for service of sentence.
During the arrest, an Alternative Recording Device (ARD) was used in the conduct of the said operation. Further, arrested suspect was duly informed of his constitutional rights in a language (Tagalog) known and understood by him. Green is currently detained at RSOG-RID, NCRPO office for documentation and proper disposition.
The NCRPO Chief calls to public particularly the cooperation of possible other victims of Green and do not hesitate to coordinate to
NCRPO to file appropriate charges against the arrested suspect. He also warned the public who are involved in these fraudulent activities.
“The NCRPO will continue its aggressive campaign to take down all fraudulent activities along with the fake accounts on social media platforms. To all persons behind fake accounts and online-scamming particularly those personalities who use someone’s identity or any member of the community for personal gains and illegal activities let this be a lesson. The arrest of this suspect serves as a warning, we will run after you.” Nartatez stated.
