No foul play indicated in Grade 9 student’s death, police confirm

admin March 26, 2026

AUTHORITIES in Pasig City have concluded that there is no indication of foul play in the death of a 15-year-old Grade 9 student who was reported missing last week.

Police officials stated on Thursday that initial findings at the scene, forensic assessments, and corroborating testimonies from the student’s friends and classmates all point away from any criminal involvement in her demise. The conclusion brings a measure of clarity to a case that had caused significant concern within the community.

Police Major Loreto Tigno, the assistant chief of police for operations in Pasig, elaborated on the findings during a press briefing. He explained that evidence recovered from the scene, combined with statements from the student’s peers and reports of farewell messages found in letters she sent, suggested a different narrative. Tigno further confirmed that the subsequent autopsy conducted on the student’s remains revealed no signs of physical trauma or indications of a struggle, reinforcing the conclusion that her death was not the result of criminal action.

The tragic sequence of events began when the student was last seen on March 18, entering a mall in Marikina and subsequently walking alone into a vacant lot near the LRT-2 compound in Santolan, Pasig City. She was reported missing the following day, March 19.

Her remains were discovered on March 23 in a secluded area within the vicinity, following an ocular inspection prompted by the missing person report. Authorities also noted the recovery of an item at the scene, which was allegedly purchased by the student prior to the incident, further contributing to the understanding of the circumstances surrounding her death.

The student’s father was present at the press briefing and appealed to the public to refrain from criticizing the authorities, expressing his belief that the police responded promptly and diligently to his daughter’s case.
