A NEWLY-elected female barangay kagawad in Pasay City was shot dead inside a barangay hall on Monday.
In a report on Tuesday, the Pasay City Police identified the victim as Marcelina Camacho, a former village treasurer who was elected councilor of Barangay 37 during the Oct. 30 polls.
Camacho was attacked by two unidentified motorcycle riders inside the barangay hall along San Juan Street at about 5:35 p.m.
The police said closed-circuit television footage showed that the pillion rider alighted from the motorcycle and shot the victim twice inside the barangay hall.
Camacho was taken to the Adventist Medical Center but was pronounced dead at about 8:16 p.m.
Operatives of the Pasay City Police Drug Enforcement Unit who were patrolling the area arrested the gunman’s accomplice after their motorcycle bumped a pedestrian, causing them to fall to the ground.
The driver of the motorcycle was identified as alias Vladimer, 27, while the gunman managed to escape on foot and is now the subject of a manhunt.
The suspect is now detained and will face murder charges.
