THE National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) scored a major victory against human trafficking on May 7, 2026, arresting seven suspects and rescuing 12 victims—including several minors and an infant—during coordinated operations in Parañaque City.
Led by the Homicide Division, the missions were carried out under Republic Act No. 10364 or the Expanded Anti‑Trafficking in Persons Act of 2012, following a tip from a non‑governmental organization about a syndicate exploiting vulnerable individuals under the cover of legitimate services.
Investigators learned the group was operating “Rainbow Spa,” offering so‑called “nuru” and “lingam” massages advertised online. Intelligence and surveillance confirmed these services were merely a front for prostitution, with victims—including young girls—being sent to clients in nearby apartelles and motels.
Undercover agents arranged bookings, handed over marked money, and apprehended two men caught transporting minors immediately after the transaction. Subsequent raids at a house in Fortunata Village yielded eight more rescues and two additional arrests, while a follow‑up operation in Fourth Estate, Barangay San Antonio, led to the capture of the alleged leaders—a couple believed to be the syndicate’s masterminds. A parallel team also rescued a minor at a motel in Pasay City and arrested her male client, while another victim was recovered during verification at the group’s safe house.
All seven arrested individuals have already undergone inquest proceedings and face charges for human trafficking, child sexual exploitation, and other related crimes.
The rescued victims, among them very young children and an infant, are now under the care of social welfare agencies to receive protection, counseling, and support as they recover from their trauma. The operations exposed how the syndicate used everyday businesses and online platforms to lure customers and conceal their illegal trade, preying on children and women and robbing them of their safety and future.
NBI Director Atty. Melvin A. Matibag commended the operatives for their diligent work and reaffirmed the Bureau’s strong stance against such abuses. “Human trafficking is a cruel assault on human dignity, especially when the victims are minors who are robbed of their innocence and future.
The NBI will continue to intensify its operations against trafficking syndicates and ensure that those responsible are brought before the law,” he said. Authorities also called on the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities involving online exploitation, human trafficking, or crimes against children to the NBI or law enforcement agencies immediately.
