THE Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System (MWSS) has assured the public that there will be no water shortage until the end of 2025, even as the summer season begins.
MWSS Acting Deputy Administrator Patrick James Dizon said water demand typically increases by 10% to 15% from March to May due to the intense heat. However, dams have already reached their target water levels by the end of 2024 due to rainfall from the shearline and amihan winds, making a water shortage unlikely until 2025.
Currently, the water level at Angat Dam, the main source of water for Metro Manila, stands at 212.88 meters, exceeding the normal high water level of 212 meters.
Dizon also confirmed that there will be no increase in water rates this summer but reminded the public to conserve water throughout the year.
