A SECURITY escort for Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso was killed after being shot by motorcycle-riding gunmen in Tondo, Manila, early Sunday morning.
The victim has been identified as George Capistrano, 56, a retired police officer and resident of Barangay 134, Balut. Capistrano was part of the mayor’s security detail.
According to an initial report from the Manila Police District (MPD), the shooting occurred around midnight in front of the victim’s house at the corner of Salonga and Buendia streets. The investigation indicates that the two suspects were on a motorcycle, employing the common “riding in tandem” shooting method. Capistrano was immediately rushed to the Tondo Medical Center but was declared dead on arrival.
The victim’s wife, Andrea Capistrano, stated that she was inside their house when she heard two gunshots. Upon rushing outside to check, she discovered her husband lying on the ground. Police reported that the suspects fled the scene quickly after the shooting and remain unidentified.
The MPD has launched a follow-up investigation and manhunt operations to identify the gunmen and determine the motive behind the killing.
