A MAN was arrested in Navotas City yesterday after a video surfaced showing him using illegal drugs while carrying a child.
According to a report received by Police Captain Gregorio Cueto, deputy chief of the Navotas-PNP Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU), the arrest stemmed from a video sent by a relative of the arrested man, known only as “Ben,” who is of legal age.
The woman, who refused to identify herself for safety reasons, submitted the video she took showing the suspect using shabu while carrying a child.
The arrested suspect allegedly challenged the woman, threatening to kill her and fight the police.
“Even the health of the young child is at risk. The child could inhale the shabu because the smoke… the place is also small,” said Pol/Capt Cueto.
The suspect’s relatives were also reportedly terrified because they had been trying to stop him from engaging in illegal activities. The suspect allegedly threatened to kill them if he got high on drugs.
A buy-bust operation was launched, resulting in the suspect’s arrest. He admitted to the contents of the video.
“I’ll just focus on my family, ma’am. I realized that what I was doing was wrong,” the suspect said.
Meanwhile, another drug suspect, known only as “Tolits,” was also arrested in Navotas for selling drugs.
Both suspects denied selling drugs, claiming they were only users and not dealers. “I use drugs, but I don’t sell them,” one suspect said.
“I was involved in selling drugs before, around 2019,” he added.
