IN anticipation of the large number of devotees expected to participate in the Feast of the Black Nazarene, the Light Rail Transit Line 2 (LRT-2) management has announced that barefoot devotees will be permitted to ride the train on Friday, January 9.
“Bilang pakikiisa sa Kapistahan ng Poong Nazareno, papayagan ang mga debotong nakayapak na makikibahagi sa Traslacion ng Itim na Nazareno na sumakay sa LRT Line 2 sa Enero 9, 2025,” the statement read. This translates to: “In solidarity with the Feast of the Nazarene, barefoot devotees participating in the Traslacion of the Black Nazarene will be allowed to ride LRT Line 2 on January 9, 2025.”
Despite this accommodation, the LRT-2 management emphasized that security measures will remain strict. “Kasabay nito, ipatutupad parin ang ‘No Inspection, No Entry’ policy ‘bilang bahagi ng mahigpit na seguridad sa lahat ng istasyon.” This means that the ‘No Inspection, No Entry’ policy will still be implemented as part of strict security at all stations.
The LRT-2 management also reminded the public that regular operating hours will be observed on Friday. However, the issuance of concessionary beep cards will be temporarily suspended on Friday at the following select LRT-1 and LRT-2 stations:
- LRT-1: Carriedo, Doroteo Jose, United Nations, Central
- LRT-2: Recto, Legarda, Pureza
The issuance of concessionary beep cards at these stations will resume on Saturday, January 10.
