HUNDREDS of socialist workers and urban poor will march to the Commission on Elections (Comelec) on February 24 at 10 AM to denounce senatorial candidates they allege are linked to political dynasties, corruption, crime, and abuse of power.
The protest, organized by Socialista or Kilusan ng Manggagawang Socialista Inc (KMSI), will culminate in a “Declaration Rally” dubbed ‘Wag Iboto sa Senado’.
Protesters plan to visually demonstrate their rejection of specific candidates by tearing, defacing, and marking with an “X” the candidates’ campaign tarpaulins.
The targeted candidates are accused of various offenses, including land grabbing, involvement in the PDAF and Pharmally scandals, rape, protecting Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGOs), and carrying out extrajudicial killings.
The rally will take place at the Comelec office located at Palacio del Gobernador, General Luna St., Intramuros, Manila.
