Fire engulfs 100 houses in Sta. Ana, Manila, 300 families affected

admin October 15, 2024

A MASSIVE fire broke out in a residential area in Sta. Ana, Manila on Tuesday morning, leaving at least 100 houses burned and displacing approximately 300 families.

The fire, which started on Onyx Street near Sagrada Familia in Barangay 775, was first reported to the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) at 6:12 a.m. The blaze quickly escalated, reaching the second alarm at 6:15 a.m., the third alarm at 6:28 a.m., and finally the fourth alarm at 6:48 a.m.

The fourth alarm prompted the deployment of 13 firetrucks to battle the blaze, according to a report by Bea Pinlac on Unang Balita. Thick black smoke billowed from the area, prompting residents to scramble to salvage what belongings they could.

Some residents even joined firefighters in their efforts to contain the blaze. Thankfully, no casualties have been reported so far.

The BFP estimated the damage to property at P3 million. The narrow streets in the area posed a significant challenge for firefighters to access the affected site, as reported by Manny Vargas on Dobol B TV.

The fire was finally brought under control at 8:46 a.m.
