THE planned dry run of the odd-even coding scheme on Epifanio delos Santos Avenue (Edsa), initially scheduled for June 16, has been postponed indefinitely.
The decision follows President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s order to suspend the P8.7-billion Edsa rehabilitation project for one month, according to Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon.
Dizon announced the postponement on Sunday, stating that the dry run will not proceed as planned.
The odd-even scheme, intended to mitigate traffic congestion during the multi-year Edsa rebuild project, was slated to begin on June 16, coinciding with the commencement of the rehabilitation work.
However, with the project now suspended for a month to allow for a review and revamp of plans, the dry run has also been put on hold until further notice.
The Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA), which had previously announced the dry run to allow the public time to adjust to the new traffic scheme, will now await revised plans for the Edsa rehabilitation before rescheduling. No new date for the dry run has been set.
