A DRUG suspect died of a heart attack during a buy-bust operation conducted by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Calabarzon (PDEA 4A) at a hotel in Parañaque City on Tuesday night.
The operation resulted in the seizure of P6.8 million worth of suspected shabu (crystal meth). According to a PDEA 4A statement released on Wednesday, the suspect, identified as “Stephen,” a 49-year-old Makati City resident, resisted arrest and stabbed one of the operatives during the operation.
PDEA 4A stated that during the commotion, the suspect experienced difficulty breathing and lost consciousness.
He was immediately transported to a hospital for medical treatment but was pronounced dead due to a heart attack. The operation also led to the arrest of “Mikhaela,” a 24-year-old Quezon City resident, and “Mohamad,” a 32-year-old German-Syrian national residing in Makati.
The authorities confiscated at least one kilogram of suspected shabu during the operation. Mikhaela and Mohamad are currently detained at the PDEA 4A Custodial Facility in Santa Rosa City, Laguna, awaiting charges for violations of Republic Act 9165, the Dangerous Drugs Act.
