THE Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is planning to resume 24/7 repairs along EDSA during Holy Week to further accelerate the ongoing rehabilitation project.
The first phase of the rehabilitation, which spans from Roxas Boulevard to EDSA Orense in Makati and began on December 24, 2025, is nearly 50 percent complete. The goal is to finish the road or carriageway by May, with sidewalk improvements slated for completion in July 2026.
“We will seek permission from the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) to resume 24/7 work, taking advantage of the expected lower traffic volume in Metro Manila during Holy Week to expedite the project,” said Highways Secretary Vince Dizon at a recent press conference.
Currently, the DPWH conducts road reblocking and asphalt overlay on EDSA only from 10 PM to 4 AM to minimize traffic disruptions.
Dizon added that the procurement process for Phase 2 of the EDSA Rehabilitation Project, which will cover the stretch from Orense to Cubao in Quezon City, will also commence soon.
