DRIVEN by its relentless pursuit for justice, the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) has filed charges before the Department of Justice (DOJ) against the suspects in the case of the missing cockfighting enthusiasts.
CIDG together with the complainants and witnesses appeared before the DOJ on March 18, 2022, and filed a case for violation of Article 267 of the Revised Penal Code or known as Kidnapping and Serious Illegal Detention against eight identified persons and several John Does.
The said suspects, based on the pieces of evidence and statements of the witnesses, were positively identified as the group of persons who took hold of the missing persons and loaded them in a van parked in the basement of Manila Arena on January 13, 2022.
“This is just one of the concrete steps that the CIDG, being tasked to dig deeper on this web of cases, is taking to get into the bottom of this. While there is a spark of national interest about these cases, the PNP is taking an evidence-based approach to slowly uncover the truth behind the disappearances,” PNP Chief General Dionardo Carlos said.
Some sources of information may have been uncooperative, but the CIDG managed to extract vital testimonies from other witnesses.
Backtracking effort is underway to secure more proof.
“We assure the worried families that the PNP is taking all efforts and initiatives to resolve the cases,” Carlos said.
