Cavite Rep. Kiko Barzaga faces sedition, rebellion complaints

admin November 12, 2025

CAVITE Representative Kiko Barzaga is facing complaints of inciting to sedition and inciting to rebellion, filed by the police Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG), according to a subpoena he shared on his Facebook page.

The subpoena, issued by the Office of the City Prosecutor of Quezon City, requires Barzaga to appear for a preliminary investigation on November 17 and 25. The investigation will determine whether there is sufficient evidence to file a case against him in court.

While the subpoena posted by Barzaga did not specify the basis for the complaints, Department of Justice spokesperson Polo Martinez confirmed the document’s authenticity and the filing of the case with the Quezon City Office of the Prosecutor.

Barzaga, who has portrayed himself as an anti-corruption advocate, responded to the complaints by tagging President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. in his Facebook post, stating: “How many people have your father killed or imprisoned before he was removed from power? This will not stop us, this will only make the revolution stronger!”

The complaints appear to stem from Barzaga’s recent actions, including his call in October for people to gather in front of Forbes Park subdivision in Makati City to supposedly “storm” houses allegedly owned by Leyte Rep. Martin Romualdez and resigned congressman Zaldy Co.

These actions have been criticized by activist groups, who have dismissed Barzaga’s behavior as “clout chasing” and a distraction from legitimate concerns regarding the flood-control project corruption controversy.

Barzaga’s legal troubles add another layer of complexity to the ongoing investigations into alleged corruption within the government.
