Businessman killed in Quezon City laundry shop, suspect arrested

admin September 5, 2025

A 43-year-old businessman was fatally shot in his laundry shop located within a subdivision in Barangay Bagbag, Novaliches, Quezon City, according to city police reports released on Friday.

The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) stated that the shooting occurred on Monday when a suspect, dressed in a black raincoat and ride-hailing service helmet, entered the laundry shop and fired multiple shots at the victim.

The suspect then stole the victim’s gold necklace, valued at P145,000, before fleeing on a motorcycle towards Quirino Highway. A special investigation team (SIT) was immediately formed to investigate the crime.

CCTV footage revealed the suspect at Sabina Market, where he allegedly took the stolen necklace to a goldsmith for repair.

Authorities were able to identify the suspect through the license plate number of his getaway motorcycle, which was registered to his wife.

On Wednesday, police apprehended the suspect, identified as 43-year-old “Mike Joey,” a ride-hailing service driver, at Sitio Pajo Market in Barangay Baesa.

The suspect’s wife later surrendered key pieces of evidence, including the motorcycle, a tampered license plate, the black raincoat, a red helmet, sandals, and another helmet used for disguise. The suspect is currently in police custody and will face charges of robbery with homicide before the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office.

“I commend our investigators and operatives who worked tirelessly day and night to identify, track, and apprehend the suspect in just two days,” said QCPD acting director Police Colonel Randy Glenn Silvio.

“This swift case resolution reflects our commitment to deliver justice and rid our streets of criminals, in line with the directives of the Acting CPNP and the NCRPO Regional Director,” he added.
