IN line with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s order to strengthen border security and stop illegal drug shipments, the Bureau of Customs at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (BOC-NAIA), together with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and the NAIA Inter-Agency Drug Interdiction Task Group, seized assorted suspected illegal drugs from five unclaimed incoming parcels on May 26, 2026. The operation took place at the Central Mail Exchange Center in Pasay City.
The packages were sent from Canada and France, and were originally declared as ordinary items including gifts, toys, clothing, and personal effects.
However, officers noticed inconsistencies and signs of concealment during routine checks and profiling, which led them to conduct a deeper inspection. The shipments were addressed to individuals in Pampanga, Zambales, and Cagayan de Oro City.
Authorities found illegal substances inside the parcels with a total estimated value of ₱6.4 million. BOC-NAIA emphasized that it will continue strict monitoring and enforcement measures to prevent contraband from entering the country.
