BI reports nearly 190k travelers arrive in ports national during Christmas Day

admin December 27, 2024

THE Bureau of Immigration (BI) announced that its ports nationwide saw an influx of nearly 190,000 travelers during Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, marking one of the busiest periods of the year.

BI Commissioner Joel Anthony Viado reported that the number of travelers processed by immigration officers over the two days remained consistent with figures recorded during the same period last year, reflecting a steady recovery of international travel.

On Christmas Eve alone, the BI recorded 52,437 arrivals and 41,895 departures across the country. Meanwhile, Christmas Day saw 47,669 arrivals and 44,192 departures, demonstrating the robust movement of travelers during the holiday season.

Viado emphasized the unwavering dedication of BI personnel, noting that immigration officers nationwide remained on duty throughout the holidays to ensure efficient processing of passengers. “Our officers are committed to providing seamless services despite the surge in traveler numbers during this peak season,” he said.

The BI also anticipates a further increase in passenger traffic as more travelers are expected to arrive and depart following the New Year celebrations

The Bureau continues to encourage travelers to arrive early at airports and complete their pre-departure and arrival requirements to help ease the processing flow during the busy holiday period.
