A 21-year-old woman was apprehended by Bureau of Immigration (BI) personnel at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3 on January 1 for allegedly attempting to travel to Italy using a fraudulent identity.
According to a report by Rhommel Balasbas on Super Radyo dzBB, the woman presented a Swedish passport and identified herself as Nimo Ahmed Hassan.
However, while the passport appeared to be authentic, biometric face-referencing technology revealed that Hassan was not the rightful owner of the document, according to the BI.
Authorities determined that the woman is originally from East Africa. The BI is currently conducting further investigation to ascertain her true identity and locate her actual travel documents.
The woman is currently being held at the BI’s holding facility pending deportation proceedings.
