THE Bureau of Immigration (BI) reported that officers at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 1 on Monday stopped the entry to the country of four foreign nationals pretending to be revisiting tourists but suspected of seeking illegal employment.
Immigration officers intercepted three male Vietnamese nationals identified as 28-year-old Truong Quang Than, 36-year-old Bui Van Chi, 22-year-old Ngo Dan Tuong and one female identified as 19-year-old Nguyen Hoang Minh Huy.
The four arrived on board a Philippine Airlines flight from Hanoi and claimed that they were traveling for tourism purposes.
During a secondary inspection, the individuals provided highly inconsistent statements. They previously had prolonged stays in the country up to seven months.
One of them eventually admitted to have worked in a catering business during his previous stay in the country, without securing a proper visa.
“Our country is a no-go zone for those who use tourism as a cover for such schemes,” said BI Commissioner Norman Tansingco. “Aliens who attempt to enter to abuse the country’s hospitality will be denied entry,” he added.
As a result of their exclusion, they were placed on the immigration blacklist, barring them permanently from re-entering the Philippines.
