Barangay Bangkal in Makati cleared of illegal parking by MMDA, LGUs

PERSONNEL rom the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) and the Makati City Local Government Unit launched a joint operation this afternoon to clear illegal parking and stalled vehicles in Barangay Bangkal.

The crackdown was triggered after a responding fire truck became obstructed by double‑parked vehicles in the area over the weekend, preventing emergency responders from moving freely.

A total of 22 vehicles were apprehended during the operation — 16 private cars, four public utility jeepneys, and one tricycle. Of those impounded, 10 vehicles were towed away to clear the roadways. The coordinated action aims to restore unobstructed access along thoroughfares frequently narrowed by unauthorized parking.

Authorities reiterated their reminder to keep roads free from obstruction, not only to ensure smooth traffic flow and the safety of all road users, but critically to guarantee unimpeded passage for emergency vehicles during fires, medical calls, and other urgent situations. Operations will continue to be enforced to maintain clear access and public safety.
