TWO convicted American sex offenders have been barred from entering the country, according to a report by the Bureau of Immigration (BI).
According to a statement on Friday, 72-year-old Kenneth Allen Roedell was intercepted at the Mactan-Cebu International Airport (MCIA) on June 10.
He was found to have been convicted of sexually molesting and engaging in lewd and lascivious acts with a 12-year-old victim in 2004.
On June 17, 52-year-old Danny Albera Rodriguez was also denied entry at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 1 after records showed he was convicted of two counts of sexual assault in the second and third degrees in 2003 with victims less than 14 years old.
US law mandated the notification of their crimes involving minors to foreign countries, while Philippine law – the Philippine Immigration Act – deemed the two as excludable aliens due to crimes involving moral turpitude.
“As a consequence of their exclusion they have been placed in our immigration blacklist and perpetually banned from re-entering the Philippines for being undesirable aliens,” BI Commissioner Norman Tansingco said.
