POLICE authorities arrested two alleged abductors of a 15-year-old Grade 10 student in Las Pinas City.
This stemmed from a complaint about an attempted abduction that took place in front of a pawnshop along Marcos Alvarez Avenue, Barangay Talon 5, on May 25, 2022.
A concerned citizen identified one of the suspects, providing leads to police investigators.
Swiftly, the Philippine National Police (PNP) acted in search of the suspect.
The first alleged suspect was arrested on May 26 in a joint operation conducted by the Special Operations Unit (SOU) and the Women and Children Protection Desk (WCPD) of the Las Piñas City Police Station.
He was identified as a certain Leonard “Onak” Alfaro, 33, a resident of barangay Pamplona Uno, Las Pinas City.
Operatives recovered from his possession a hand grenade and a Magnum 357 Revolver loaded with five live ammunitions.
The firearm will be subjected for ballistic examination.
“Upon verification of records, police probers found out that Alfaro has a Warrant of Arrest for a Robbery case,” PNP OIC Lt. Gen. Vicente Danao Jr. confirmed.
During the course of the investigation, Alfaro disclosed the identity of his cohort.
The next day, a follow-up police operation was launched in barangay Pilar leading to the arrest of the second suspect, George “Miako” Caragdag Jr., 46.
Recovered evidence includes a gun replica, a 9-inch kitchen knife, and a Black Honda Mobilio—the vehicle that was allegedly used during the attempted kidnapping.
“Necessary documents are now being prepared for the filing of charges against the two suspects. I thank our personnel who responded promptly to the report and dedicated their time and effort to resolve the case,” Danao said.
