FIFTEEN Valenzuela City police officers, including two unit chiefs and thirteen non-commissioned officers, have been removed from their posts following allegations of extortion, the local police station announced Thursday.
Three of the officers, all active investigators, were apprehended during an entrapment operation in Barangay Malinta on Wednesday evening.
Police Colonel Nixon Cayaban, Valenzuela City police chief, strongly condemned the incident, stating, “We do not and will never condone any form of corruption within our ranks. It is disheartening when those who are supposed to uphold the law themselves erode public trust.”
He added, “This serves as a warning—no one is above the law.”
A comprehensive investigation into the matter is underway.
The removal of the fifteen officers underscores the Valenzuela City Police Department’s commitment to addressing corruption and maintaining public confidence in law enforcement.
