148 affected residents, vendors of EDSA Greenways Project receive assistance from gov’t

admin December 16, 2023

AT least 148 residents and vendors from Pasig, Quezon and Makati Cities who will be affected by the construction of the EDSA Greenways Project on Friday were provided livelihood packages by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) and Department of Transportation (DOTr).

According to Transportation Secretary Jaime Bautista, the livehood packages are part of the agency’s social safety nets for those who will be affected by government infrastructure programs.

Secretary Bautista stressed the government’s inclusivity concerning the socio-economic aspect of transport projects.

Under the DOTr-DOLE Integrated Livelihood Program, affected and qualified residents and vendors will receive P30,000 worth of rice, dressmaking, and food packages for small eateries as well as negosyo carts.

The EDSA Greenways Project aims to improve the pedestrian environment by building elevated pedestrian walkways along EDSA Balintawak and Cubao in Quezon City, Guadalupe in Makati City and Taft Ave. in Pasay City.
