A 13-year-old boy died in a hit-and-run incident along the EDSA busway portion of Balintawak, Quezon City on Wednesday night.
The victim was hit by a bus near Dario Bridge shortly before midnight.
It was learned that the victim and his two friends were crossing the northbound lane of EDSA and entered the busway.
“We were going to get firewood. We hadn’t gotten any yet when the bus suddenly hit him. The bus stopped, but the conductor just looked. I chased after the bus… but I couldn’t catch it,” said the victim’s friend.
“They have children, they have grandchildren. Why did they run? They should have at least picked up the child. They should have shown themselves,” said the victim’s grieving grandmother.
The Quezon City Police District-Traffic Sector 6 is continuing to investigate the incident. They are in the process of gathering CCTV footage from the area.
