THE Bureau of Customs (BOC) has confiscated suspected counterfeit perfumes and lotions valued at ₱841 million in an operation conducted in Valenzuela City.
The major seizure forms part of the agency’s intensified campaign against the entry and distribution of illicit goods that violate intellectual property rights and endanger consumer safety. Authorities noted that these fake products are often manufactured using substandard or harmful ingredients, posing significant health risks to the public while unfairly competing with legitimate businesses.
The operation was carried out to stop the widespread circulation of imitation items that are made to look like well‑known international brands but are produced without proper authorization or quality control.
BOC officials emphasized that such activities not only cause substantial revenue losses for the government and legal manufacturers but also undermine fair trade practices in the country. The recovered items were found stored in a facility in the city, awaiting distribution to markets and retail outlets nationwide.
This seizure stands as one of the largest hauls of counterfeit beauty and personal care products recorded this year. The BOC reiterated its commitment to safeguarding local industries and protecting consumers from unsafe and illegal goods.
Investigations are ongoing to identify the individuals and syndicates behind the shipment and distribution of these counterfeit items, as the agency vowed to continue strict enforcement measures to ensure that only authentic and safe products reach the Filipino market.
