A MAGNITUDE 6.8 earthquake struck off the coast of Manay, Davao Oriental, on October 10, 2025, at 7:12 PM local time. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) reported the quake’s epicenter to be 43 kilometers South 68° East of Manay, Davao Oriental, with a depth of 37 kilometers.
The earthquake was felt strongly in the Davao region, with Manay, Davao Oriental experiencing Intensity VI. Other areas in Davao Oriental, including Baganga, Boston, Caraga, Cateel, and Tarragona, experienced Intensity V.
The tremor was also felt in other parts of Mindanao and the Visayas. Intensity IV was reported in Mawab, Monkayo, Nabunturan, and Pantukan in Davao de Oro; Davao City; Mati City in Davao Oriental; and Bislig City in Surigao del Sur. Intensity III was felt in several areas of Leyte and Southern Leyte, as well as Digos City and Magsaysay in Davao del Sur; Kidapawan City, M’lang, Makilala, and President Roxas in Cotabato; and Lambayong in Sultan Kudarat.
Instrumental intensities, which measure ground acceleration, also reflected the widespread impact of the earthquake.
Authorities are continuing to assess the damage and monitor for potential aftershocks. Residents in affected areas are advised to remain vigilant and follow safety guidelines.
