MADDIE Madayag is set to embark on her first international stint.
The Choco Mucho star in the Premier Volleyball League will be joining the Kurobe Aqua Fairies in the Japan SV.League for the 2024-25 season which will start in October, the team announced on Monday.
The 5-foot-11 middle blocker is expected to debut for Kurobe on October 13 against the SAGA Hisamitsu Springs.
This means that she will miss the All-Filipino Conference for the Flying Titans.
Choco Mucho was very supportive of this first-ever import stint for Madayag, who won Best Middle Blocker in the 2024 PVL All-Filipino.
“We’re incredibly proud of you, Maddie, for seizing this amazing opportunity in your career. Your Choco Mucho Flying Titans fam is with you every step of the way,” said the team in a statement.
“We can’t wait to welcome you back stronger than ever!”
Madayag will join Jia De Guzman of Denso Airybees and Jaja Santiago of Osaka Marvelous in the Japan top-tier league.
Expected to carry the load in the middle blocker position for Choco Mucho in the next conference would be Cherry Nunag, Maika Ortiz, Lut Malaluan, and Lorraine Pecaña.
