MINORITY Leader Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel III delivers a Kontra Sona Monday, July 29, 2024, challenging the administration’s policies and offering alternative solutions for the country’s future.
To achieve comprehensive flood control and management, Pimentel suggested a character change. He said citizens should stop throwing garbage everywhere and urged contractors, suppliers of government contracts and construction companies to refrain from entering politics to avoid conflict of interest.
Likewise, he said politicians should withhold from going into business for the same reason.
“The people deserve accountability. We therefore need to revisit our country’s flood control and infrastructure program and we need to review our entire budget process where these are provided for,” Pimentel said.
The minority leader prodded President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. to “strongly support” nutrition programs and to review the Philippine Health Insurance Corp. (PhilHealth) charter. Pimentel also talked about the need to strengthen basic education, reassess basic education curriculum and boost the agriculture sector, among others. (Senate Public Relations and Information Bureau)
