VICE President Sara Duterte allegedly understated her true net worth by as much as 67% in her Statements of Assets, Liabilities and Net Worth (SALNs) filed from 2022 through 2025, according to findings presented by House impeachment spokesperson and adviser Robert Ace Barbers on Saturday.
Speaking at the Saturday News Forum in Quezon City, Barbers said forensic review by expert witness Atty. Alexander Cabrera uncovered nearly ₱818 million in undeclared assets, cash, and income linked to Duterte and her husband, Atty. Manases “Mans” Carpio — representing a gap of between 56% and 67% compared with what the Vice President officially declared.
Barbers emphasized that the mismatches go beyond simple omissions and amount to intentional nondisclosure. “There was a willful and deliberate concealment of material information in the SALN,” he stated. The review found that deposits entering the couple’s bank accounts consistently exceeded the income reported in their tax filings. Investigators also examined financial records from entities closely associated with the spouses — Metro City Chow Food Corp., Cale88 Foods Corp., and GenCorp Industries Inc. — whose earnings and assets were not fully reflected in Duterte’s sworn declarations.
Cabrera completed his direct testimony before the Senate impeachment court on Friday and is scheduled to face cross‑examination by the defense on Monday, October 12. Barbers noted that the findings remain allegations subject to challenge and evaluation by the court. “These are the matters that will be tested during cross‑examination and weighed by the senator‑judges as they consider the evidence presented,” he added.
