THE Department of Budget and Management (DBM) has announced that government employees in the Philippines will receive their year-end bonuses and cash gifts as early as the first payroll of November 2024.
Budget Secretary Amenah Pangandaman revealed that Budget Circular 2024-3 has been issued, amending previous guidelines regarding the distribution of these benefits.
The update changes Section 6.1 of DBM Circular 2016-4, which previously mandated that bonuses and cash gifts be paid no earlier than November 15 each year.
Under the new circular, government employees will receive a year-end bonus equivalent to one month’s basic pay as of October 31, along with a cash gift of P5,000, both to be disbursed with the first agency payroll in November.
“Sa first payroll po sa darating na Nobyembre ay matatanggap na ng mga empleyado ng gobyerno ang kanilang year-end bonus and cash gift,” Pangandaman said.
She further explained that the change allows qualified personnel to receive their bonuses and cash gifts simultaneously with the first payroll of November, rather than adhering to the previous policy.
The DBM is also taking steps to streamline the payroll processes across agencies to address and mitigate delays in the payment of benefits.
