DONALD Trump has defied the odds and will return to the White House as America’s 47th president, securing a historic second term in a stunning election upset.
His victory comes after a tumultuous four years, marked by his attempt to overturn the 2020 election, two impeachments, a criminal conviction, and numerous other legal challenges.
Trump’s comeback, described as the most momentous in political history, will grant him immense power at home and send shockwaves around the world. In his victory speech, he vowed to “heal” the nation, address the border crisis, and deliver a strong economy. He also celebrated the Republican Party’s control of the Senate, though the House remains contested.
Vice President Kamala Harris conceded the race and congratulated Trump on Wednesday afternoon. Shortly after, President Joe Biden also called Trump to offer his congratulations and invite him to the White House, formally initiating the transition process ahead of Inauguration Day.
