Rep. Teves
THE Department of Justice (DOJ) on Thursday night confirmed that Timor-Leste granted the request of the Philippines to extradite former Negros Oriental Representative Arnolfo “Arnie”Teves Jr.
In a Viber message, Justice Assistant Secretary Mico Clavano said, “The Department of Justice confirms the grant of the extradition request made by the Philippine government. The information was relayed to us by the Attorney-General of Timor Leste. We have won.”
“We look forward to the arrival of Mr. Teves so that he may finally face the charges against him in our local courts,” Clavano added, as posted on abogado.com
Teves is facing murder charges in connection with the killing of Negros Oriental Gov. Roel and several others in an ambush of the governor’s home.
Teves, who has denied involvement in the killings, was out of the country when he was charged.
He was arrested in Timor-Leste in March following his inclusion in the Interpol Red List.
