SPEAKER Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez on Sunday extended his deepest condolences to the families of victims of the powerful and devastating earthquake that recently struck Morocco.
“We express our heartfelt sympathies to the Moroccan people. Such events are poignant reminders of the unpredictable forces of nature we all must grapple with,” the leader of the 311-strong House of Representatives said.
“As we share our condolences with the affected families, we acknowledge the commendable efforts of the rescue teams, working diligently amidst adversity. The international community stands united in its wish to see swift recovery and healing for Morocco during these challenging times,” he added.
At the same time, he was glad to know that no Filipino was included in the death toll.
“We are also mindful of our own citizens abroad, and it is a relief to know that the Filipino community in Morocco is safe,” Speaker Romualdez – a congressman from the First District of Leyte province – declared.
“Our appreciation extends to the Department of Foreign Affairs and Ambassador Leslie Baja for their dedicated efforts in ensuring the well-being of our nationals. We encourage our kababayans to stay vigilant and maintain close coordination with local authorities,” he advised.
“In moments of global challenges, unity and understanding are paramount. We extend our hand in solidarity to Morocco and remain committed to the welfare of our overseas Filipino community,” the administration stalwart stressed.
