The Philippine Consulate in New York City announced on Saturday that it has yet to receive confirmation of any Filipino casualties in Friday’s plane crash in northeast Philadelphia. The consulate, in a Facebook post, stated that it is actively monitoring the situation and is in contact with Filipino community organizations and local authorities to ascertain whether any Filipino nationals were involved.
The crashed aircraft, a small rescue plane operated by Jet Rescue Air Ambulance, carried six people: four crew members, a child patient, and an escort. While the air ambulance company has not yet confirmed any survivors, the consulate emphasized that, as of their statement, there are no confirmed reports of Filipino nationals among the victims.
Consul General Senen Mangalile reassured the Filipino community that the consulate stands ready to provide assistance to any affected Filipinos and encouraged anyone with information to contact the consulate’s emergency hotline. The proximity of the crash site to a Filipino fast-food restaurant added to initial concerns within the community.
President Trump also commented on the tragedy via social media, expressing sadness and commending the first responders. The incident remains under investigation.
