TWO individuals, a former barangay chair and his live-in partner, were found dead from gunshot wounds to the head after an apparent shooting inside their vehicle in Bacolod City.
The victims were identified as Federico Gayagas Jr., 53, former barangay captain of Bacong, Bago City, and Carmelita Davilla, 44, a resident of Barangay Sum-ag, Bacolod City.
According to Police Captain Andy Ofalia, station commander of Bacolod City Police Station 9, the incident occurred around 8:45 PM inside the couple’s car at Bangga Tomaro, Barangay Sum-ag.
Police investigation revealed that the gunshots originated from inside the vehicle, based on the bullet trajectory. It was also determined that an argument between the two individuals may have escalated into the shooting.
Upon arrival at the scene, authorities found Davilla dead at the scene, while Gayagas Jr. was rushed to the hospital but later succumbed to his injuries.
Recovered from the vehicle owned by Gayagas Jr. were an M16 rifle, an M203 grenade launcher, and a 9mm firearm.
Police records indicate that in September 2016, Gayagas Jr. engaged in a shootout with police in Barangay Taculing, resulting in injuries to him and his companion, while his cousin was killed. In 2017, Gayagas Jr. survived an attack by hitmen who shot at him inside a poultry farm in Bago City.
Authorities are currently investigating the incident.
