THE bustling streets of Parañaque City, usually vibrant with life, concealed a dark underbelly recently exposed by a daring operation conducted by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) Human Trafficking Division.
Eleven minors, aged 14 to 16, were rescued from a sophisticated child sex trafficking ring, highlighting the insidious nature of this crime and the vulnerability of young people.
The sting operation, detailed in a 24 Oras report by John Consulta, led to the arrest of two suspects believed to be the pimps orchestrating the exploitation. These individuals allegedly offered the minors to clients for a fee of P2,000, preying on their innocence and desperation.
The modus operandi was chillingly simple yet effective: luring the victims with promises of free snacks and a “good time,” only to coerce them into providing sexual services. The transactions, conducted discreetly through messaging apps and text messages, demonstrate the perpetrators’ calculated efforts to avoid detection.
The operation itself was fraught with tension. As authorities moved in, some of the terrified minors attempted to flee, underscoring the trauma they had endured and their desperate desire to escape their captors.
The scene paints a stark picture of the fear and control exerted by the traffickers. The brazen public nature of the operation, with transactions taking place in public establishments and restaurants, further emphasizes the audacity of the criminals and the vulnerability of their victims.
NBI spokesperson Regional Director Ferdinand Lavin expressed deep concern over the incident, highlighting the gravity of the situation.

Following their rescue, the eleven minors are now under the care of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), receiving much-needed counseling and support.
