
A MAN was arrested for allegedly stabbing his ex-wife to death inside a school in Las Piñas City on Monday morning, March 10.
According to a report submitted by Las Piñas City police chief P/Col. Sandro Jay Tafalla to Southern Police District (SPD) director PBGen Manuel Abrugena, the suspect, identified as alias Dennis, 38, a public coordinator services employee from Bacoor, Cavite, was apprehended.
The victim, identified as alias Rose, 51, a public school teacher at Lydia Aguilar National High School (LANHS) and a resident of 38 Aerospace, CAA, BF International, Las Piñas City, was declared dead on arrival at Alabang Medical Hospital after sustaining 37 stab wounds.
Tafalla stated that the incident occurred around 8:45 am at the Lydia Aguilar National High School (LANHS) located on Camia St., TS Cruz Subd, Brgy. Almanza Dos, Las Piñas City.
The suspect reportedly went to the school where the victim taught and proceeded to the faculty office. Upon seeing his ex-wife, he pulled out a bladed weapon and repeatedly stabbed her.
Several of the victim’s colleagues witnessed the incident but were unable to intervene due to fear of becoming the suspect’s next target.
Members of the Las Piñas City police responded promptly, leading to the suspect’s immediate arrest. They also recovered a 12-inch knife used in the crime.
Tafalla revealed that the former couple, who did not have any children, were married in 2011 and lived together for 13 years before separating in 2024 due to the suspect’s extreme jealousy.
The suspect is currently detained at the Station Investigation and Detection Management Section (SIDMS) custodial facility while authorities prepare to file parricide charges against him at the Las Piñas City Prosecutor’s Office.
