E.A.T host/comedian Wally Bayola has been summoned by the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) after he uttered profanity during its live show on August 10.
The MTRCB said it issued the Notice to Appear and Testify to the production group motu propio, or on its own volition.
This was based on its monitoring of the show.
Bayola has since issued an apology.
It said the scene was in violation of the the implementing rules and regulations of the MTRCB’s charter that prescribes what are allowed for parental guidance shows.
The date of the hearing over the incident will be on August 14 at the MTRCB office in Quezon City.
The MTRCB said any violation of PD No. 1986 and its Implementing Rules and Regulations governing motion pictures, television programs, and related promotional materials shall be penalized with suspension or cancellation of permits and/or licenses issued by the Board and/or with the imposition of fines and other administrative penalty/penalties.
The summons to E.A.T. came after MTRCB chair Lala Sotto had been accused of prejudice and double standards for issuing a Notice to Appear and Testify to “It’s Showtime” producers because of the alleged “indecent acts” of its hosts, which involved licking and eating cake icing from their fingers.
Netizens said E.AT. host Tito Sotto kissed his wife Helen Gamboa repeatedly on her cheek and neck on live TV, and the show had not been called out for this.
Tito Sotto and Helen Gamboa are the parents of the MTRCB chair.
Lala Sotto had defended her parents’ actions, saying there was nothing wrong with these and that her parents had always been affectionate toward each other in their 55-year-marriage.
