ACTRESS Rufa Mae Quinto was released from custody on Thursday after posting P1.7 million bail at the Pasay Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 111.
Quinto, who surrendered at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) upon her return from the U.S., faces 14 counts of violating Section 8 of the Securities Regulation Code, with each count carrying a bail of P126,000.
The charges stem from a complaint filed last year by investors of the skincare company Dermacare. Quinto maintains her innocence, stating in a previous interview that she was only an endorser for the clinic and had no involvement in soliciting investments.
She further claims she was also a victim, receiving only bounced checks for her endorsement. She urged complainants to focus their efforts on pursuing the actual owners of Dermacare.
Quinto’s arraignment is scheduled for today, January 9.
