THE Movie and Television Review and Classification Board is standing pat on its decision imposing a 12 airing day suspension on It’s Showtime because of the alleged indecent acts of its hosts.
In a statement on Thursday, the MTRCB said it had denied the motion for reconsideration filed by ABS-CBN Corporation and GMA Network, Inc., which is airing episodes of the show, to stop the implementation of the suspension order.
“In view of which, the Board’s decision dated 17 August 2023 is affirmed,” it said.
ABS-CBN may still contest the MTRCB’s decision before the Office of the President within 15 days from the receipt of the ruling.
The suspension stemmed from the July 25 episode where hosts Ryan Bang, Vice Ganda, and Ion Perez allegedly acted indecently or inappropriately in front of children.
During the episode, Vice Ganda and Perez were seen eating cake icing off their fingers.
MTRCB Chair Lala Sotto earlier said the actions of the hosts violated the “Parental Guidance” classification of It’s Showtime.
She also said the MTRCB received numerous complaints about the segment.
