THE Land Transportation Office (LTO) has formally revoked the driver’s license of actor Niño Muhlach for a period of two years following a vehicle accident along Marcos Highway on August 23. LTO Chief Markus Lacanilao announced the decision Thursday, stating that a complete investigation and administrative hearing established the actor was suffering from severe fatigue at the wheel before he lost control of his vehicle, which then crashed into three separate establishments.
Lacanilao cited reckless driving and improper operation of a motor vehicle as the official grounds for the penalty. Under the revocation order, Muhlach’s license is suspended for the full two‑year term, and his vehicle will remain placed under alarm status throughout the period — meaning it cannot be re‑registered, transferred, or legally operated on public roads until the sanction expires and all requirements for reinstatement are met.
“The LTO is steadfast in enforcing traffic laws, particularly violations that place the safety of other road users at risk,” Lacanilao emphasized. “Appropriate penalties will be imposed based on evidence and due process, without regard to the status or prominence of any individual involved.” The ruling sends a clear message that fatigue‑related driving and negligent operation carry serious consequences, regardless of who is behind the wheel.
