LEA Salonga announced that she and her husband, Robert Chien, have separated.
The Filipina theater actress shared this during a media conference for the “Les Miserables World Tour Spectacular” in Parañaque City this Wednesday while discussing raising children with unconditional love, regardless of their sexual orientation and gender identity.
Nic Chien, Lea and Robert’s child, discovered they were transmasculine at the age of 14 and began taking testosterone last year.
While Nic is working on their acting career, Lea said that they are both busy. “But thankful the dad and dad’s partner are the ones… ‘pag may sipon ka, ‘Here I will send you food. I will make sure you are well,'” Lea told entertainment journalist MJ Marfori, who posted the quote on her TikTok account.
“It’s not a secret we have been separated for a while. He is happy and I am happy that he is happy,” Lea added.
In April 2025, Lea and Nic became a topic of conversation after they appeared on the cover of People Magazine and spoke about their “emotional” transition journey.
Nic is currently playing Jack in the Manila staging of “Into the Woods,” which also stars Lea.
In November, Nic shared the results of their top surgery and thanked their parents, Lea and Robert, for their support.
