VETERAN actress Jaclyn Jose passes away, Sunday, as confirmed by her management PPL Entertainment Inc.
Jaclyn (real name Mary Jane Guck), 59, was found lifeless inside her residence in Quezon City.
Based on initial information gathered by ABS-CBN News, Jose had not been replying to messages and calls from her relatives.This prompted them to have someone check on her, and she was found lifeless in her home.
Her management said that “more details will be shared as soon as they are available.”
In its social media posts, PPL Entertainment said “The Guck and Eigenmann families are requesting for everyone to please pray for the eternal repose of Miss Jaclyn Jose and for them to be allowed the respect and privacy to mourn her passing, and navigate these difficult times.”
Jose, who started acting in the 1980s, was playing the role of prison warden Dolores Espinas on “FPJ’s Batang Quiapo” at the time of her death.
Jose memorably won the Best Actress award in the 2016 Cannes Film Festival for her role in “Ma’Rosa.” In the local scene, Jose received acting accolades from Gawad Urian, Famas, Luna Awards and other award-giving bodies.
She earned a FAMAS nomination in 1984 for her debut on “Private Show,” and a Gawad Urian for Lino Brocka’s 1985 film “White Slavery.”
Jaclyn was born on October 21, 1964 as Mary Jane Guck in Angeles City, Pampanga. She was the second among six siblings which include Veronica Jones, an actress in the 1970s and 1980s.
